Mother's Day

I learned new things every time i attended my thursday english class.Today, we learned the history of the Mother's Day. Every year, people all around the world will celebrate this special day with several of reasons. Even in Malaysia, we have this Mother's Day eventhough it is not a must celebration in my family's calender. We never celebrate it because my father told us that everyday is a mother's day :D but we do celebrate birthday...

Back to Sarah's explaination, here are among the points that i got from the class:

The history of Mother's day is centuries old and goes back to the Greek, who held festivities to honour Rhea, the mother of the gods.

As for early Christians, they celebrated the Mother's Day on the fourth Sunday (which fall on 22nd of March this year) of Lent to honour Mary, mother of Christ.

Later on, celebration had changed where it was considered important for people to return to their homes or "mother" church at least once a year. So each year on a Sunday in the middle of Lent, everyone who worked away from their family home would visit their mothers. They have family reunions and the day became known as "Mothering Sunday"...

But some part of the world, celebrate Mother's Day with the intention of giving appreciation to mothers for all their hardworks and selfless acts they made to their loves one....In my point of view, we dont have to wait for that one particular day in a year to express our feelings and thoughts to them. It should be done on daily basis...at least by saying..Thank you mum..hugs and kisses...helping them with house chores...and once in a blue moon, suprise them with presents...among other ways to show how much we appreciate them.....
